THE ART OF STILLNESS
Hello my friend,
I hope you had a nice spring-time season. As an artist I need to be calm and have a constant flow of inspiration to create. I wanted to share a practice that has given me all the attributes that I mentioned above and even aided me in my emotional and physical healing. The Art of Stillness literally changed my life and my experience with it, to inspire you to start this practice. CLICK HERE to hear and see a video about a song inspired by The Art of Stillness.
In 2012, after one of the most traumatic and difficult times in my life, The practice of Art of Stillness literally changed my life. It was clear to me that I needed to make a big change in my life, because my health had gotten compromised. I developed PTSD from an emotionally abusive relationship.
At that time, I was attending a beautiful church community called River Gate. There, is where I learned very important aspects of what love truly should look like. The leaders who loved each other so very much demonstrated a great example. Their sermons were centered around the love of God as a nourishing father. Hearing this week after week created trust in my soul, which blossomed a desire to enjoy solitude and led me to the Art of Stillness.

This practice changed my life, and today it’s like water, air, and food to my being. This process is simple, contrary to what many people say, you don’t have to be a guru, anyone can practice it.
I invite you to try it. All you need is a little bit of patience and dedication to love yourself.
I personally experience healing in my body and in my emotions. I have experience the manifestations of peace, joy, guidance, clarity, increased creativity and much inspiration. It opened my mind to see many more possibilities in my life.
At the beginning, it could be frustrating because your body and mind does not want to be still. However, as you continue to practice this process, you will see progress.
I would recommend that if you’re new at this, just set your timer for five or ten minutes. This is a good goal. Once you do your first five or ten minutes, then you will start to feel the benefits.

Below are steps to help you with this process.
1. Find a quiet place with minimal distractions.
2. Wear comfortable clothing.
3. Drink water before you do the practice.
4. Sit in a place where your back is straight. (Example on your bed or a sofa).
5. Place your hands palms up on your knees or on your legs whatever is more comfortable.
6. If you are a beginner, Set a timer for 5 or 10 minutes. If you are intermediate, you can do 20 or 30 minutes depending on how much time you have.
7. Close your eyes and focus your attention on your breathing. As your body relaxes, start breathing a little deeper. If your mind wanders, come back to your breathing again. CLICK HERE to see a video about this topic.
The Art of Stillness will transform your life! It totally changed mine.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate writing to me.
With much love, music and beauty that comes from within,
Lourdes
