It’s truly a delight when I find places that provide an environment to connect in a deeper way. I hope this story inspires you. Listening to each other is a very healing and profound experience that your heart deserves.
It happened on a very warm summer day in August in Sunrise, Florida. A few of my friends gathered with me to experience High Tea at the coziest tea parlor. Video is right below
I awoke excited that day, knowing that I was going to wear my favorite summer dress and hat. As I was dressing, my mind couldn’t help but wander… and travel to England into the eighteen hundreds … I could see the Duchess of Bedford having her afternoon tea in her gorgeous gown. My soul was invigorated, and an endearing feeling was overcoming my senses. As I was getting all dolled up to see my friends, I was also setting my inner child free.
Did you play with tea sets when you were a child? I remember so vividly the various tea sets I played with as a little girl. I would build tents under the trees, with my mom’s sheets and welcome my sisters to tea. Laughter would fill the early afternoon as my sisters and I sipped our afternoon tea. Our menu was deviled ham and cheese, spread on crackers, and Kool-Aid served in colorful plastic tea cups. We ate and drank as we told each other scary stories.
However, on this day I was going to experience the real High Tea. Oh what a lovely place this real tea parlor is! You can feel the everyday world melt away when you step inside. You can see the fingerprints of excellence, beauty, and elegance. It’s a hidden gem that evokes the desire for great conversations, which have the potential to become true connections.
Now I want you to close your eyes for a minute and imagine… white lace curtains framing English decor, tables covered in dainty lace tablecloths and set with beautiful tableware, Royal Albert tea sets, pearl necklaces and beautiful hats. Sounds of Mozart, Bach and Debussy serenade the rooms of this parlor.
Lia is the gracious owner of TEATIME. Everything here is a total reflection of her and her impeccable taste. I had a conversation with Lia to find out how she started her Tea Parlor. One of the things she told me was that her house was always decorated like a tea parlor. However, she was in a totally different career before. It was a real test of courage to take on this opportunity that made sense to Lia. To see an interview of her beautiful story click on the link

Are you ready to read my favorite part of this story? Have you experienced High Tea before? Tea Time’s high tea presentation is epic, I never experienced anything like it, and I promise I won’t give out too much information so that you can experience every detail of it.
Now that I explained a little bit of the surroundings, it’s time to present the stars of the afternoon. Let me introduce you to three fragrant, delicious, unique house blends. TEATIME has lots of other choices. You have the choice to have them caffeinated or not, which I thought was a wonderful option.
Now, let me introduce you to my favorite house blend, BLUE HEAVEN. I love the name, it rings of poetry within my soul. Words can’t describe the taste of this delicious tea, however I will try. This brew is a perfect blend of kiwi, strawberry and coconut cream which adds a creamy flavor. It also has an accent of a beautiful blue flower which makes this tea exquisite. It’s like a dream!
Now let’s continue with the second star of the afternoon, the FRENCH CARAMEL CRÈME BRÛLÉE. This elegant, aromatic brew will entice your senses and transport you to the great Champs-Élysées. With its fragrant, spicy and natural sweetness it’s divine.
And now the third flavor, GINGER PEACH. It’s a fresh free spirited flavor, with a light summer fragrance and fruity taste that made me feel blissful. I would love to make this tea into an iced tea. All these teas can be purchased to take home as well. Lia also ships anywhere in the USA.
Now Let’s go into some of the lunch or brunch items TEATIME serves. The lovely and tasty combinations are served in 2 courses. Before I continue to describe the menu, it is important to say that they make all their food fresh and from scratch.
The first course was a delicate, fluffy spinach quiche, served with a fresh crispy garden salad and a light balsamic vinaigrette. I was quite surprised at how well quiche goes with tea.
The second course was my favorite, the tea sandwiches. These little but mega tasty bites were the best. We tasted four different mini sandwiches and I couldn’t decide which one I loved the most. They were all so different and each one possessed its own unique charm. So, I am presenting them in the order of how I tasted them. The first one was a traditional savory cucumber and tomato spread, served on potato bread.
It was crunchy, zesty and light. Just writing about them is making my mouth water.
The second one was a creamy pimento cheese spread, served on wheat bread. The pimento gave it a bit of a spicy taste. I loved it.
The third one was a very delicious cranberry spread, served on cinnamon bread. The lightly sweetened, creamy and tangy flavors evoked memories of Thanksgiving. Last but not least was the egg salad spread with spinach served on traditional white bread. It was lusciously creamy, just delicious and satisfying.
Now I will introduce you to the grand finale, the desserts.
The desserts brought such a sensation of celebration. This dessert masterpiece included the traditional buttermilk scones, which were fresh, buttery and baked to perfection. I learned to love scones with my friend, Lissa. She made them and I have loved them ever since. The best part of scones is that they are served with sweet clotted cream and tangy lemon curd. I love exploring new flavors and textures. The tempting dessert plate also included a luscious mini red velvet bundt cake, a Madeleine cookie, a mini brownie cupcake and a mini blueberry muffin. Of course, all the desserts are freshly baked in Tea Time’s kitchen.
Our conversations grew deeper, and the giggles grew louder. I played a few songs on my guitar and the hours flew by so fast. These friends are family to me, some that I met a many years ago and some that I met only recently. We all came together at this beautiful, quaint place that gave us the opportunity to weave our hearts with each other’s and truly connect.
As we were saying our goodbyes, we took pictures with each other, some shopped in the little gift store. We all gave kisses and hugs to the staff and the owner.
My heart was full, for I love to see people smiling, connecting and making new friends.
After a long season of having to be alone and not seeing my friends, it is finally a new time – a time to leave the confines of my home, go out to connect with my friends and make new ones. Will you join me in this quest? Perhaps TEATIME will be your next destination. Below are all the details of how to contact TEATIME. “ The energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” ______ BRENE BROWN
